Cult murder-extortion brother attempts suicide

One of two brothers sentenced to death in Contra Costa County in 2005 for slaughtering five people in a bizarre murder-extortion plot designed to hasten Christ’s return to Earth has been hospitalized after apparently trying to commit suicide. The man’s brother has enlisted him and a roommate in a cult-like plot to train Brazilian orphans to slaughter the leaders of the Mormon Church so he could become its prophet and “transform America.”

A leading critic of Scientology is to travel to Australia to support Senator Nick Xenophon’s campaign for an inquiry into the tax-exempt status of the church. As a Scientology, Gerry Armstrong tried to debunk criticism of Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard but says, “I discovered that the lies that I was trying to debunk were actually the truth and that Hubbard had lied…”

Muslim groups reacted angrily Wednesday after it emerged that the U.S. military is using combat rifle sights inscribed with coded Biblical references. Army officials have said they will investigate whether a Michigan defense contractor violated federal procurement rules by stamping references to Bible verses on the gun sights used by American forces to kill enemy fighters in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Muslim groups reacted angrily Wednesday after it emerged that the U.S. military is using combat rifle sights inscribed with coded Biblical references. Dutch far-right politician Geert Wilder s is due to appear in an Amsterdam court on Wednesday on charges of religious insult and anti-Islam incitement. The prosecution claims his 2008 short film ” Fitna “, as well as statements made in interviews and speeches, incite hatred against Muslims. Wilders has called Islam a “backward” culture and the Koran a “fascist book that incites people to violence.”

Danish auction house drops controversial cartoonist’s work

Theologically the Twelve Tribes religious movement is a cult of Christianity , but sociologically cult experts see some cult-like problems as well. Among other things critics have drawn attention to the group’s recruitment practices, its strict rules and the lack of wages paid to members.
